I finally was able to go to Bonifacio High Street this saturday, for those who don’t know Bonifacio High Street is a row of upscale (read: expensive) retail stores and restaurants in Fort Bonifacio. There are actually two rows of establishments and in between them there’s sort of a mini-park where lots of people play around with their kids and/or walk their dog (and/or vice versa).
In the mini park I saw this huuuuge guy, he was like 6′5″, muscle bound with an action star’s semi frown on his face and he was, get this… walking his chihuahua!?! A freaking chihuahua, I mean dude you can’t do this tough guy, I’m-macho persona then have a chihuahua for your pet. You should have something huge for that like a doberman or rottweiler, at the very least have a bulldog at least they look fierce.
(BTW I don’t really say “dude” in real life I just do it online for effect - I think Keanu Reeves ruined the word “dude” for me in the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures”, same with the word “excellent” except that it got redeemed by Mortal Kombat and Mr Burns in The Simpsons)
Anyway back to Bonifacio High Street, I also got to see Intel’s Classmate PC which they sell locally as Neo Explore(?) in that electronics shop Mobility (or was that Portable) ? I’m not sure whether people will flock to it like they did with the Asus EEE PC since it looks too much like a toy by Fisher Price so adults might not take it too seriously.
Also got to spend some time at the Hobbes store which was huge. Kids today really got it made with the wide variety of toys available at their disposal. Think about it, back when I was a kid we only had two versions of Monopoly, the original Monopoly and the knock off pinoy version Millionaire. Now they’ve got like dozens of versions of the original Monopoly in different packaging, movie tie-in monopoly games and even add ons to expand your monopoly game.
One thing I didn’t like about Bonifacio High Street was the shops were slightly elevated from the ground. I almost tripped on the entrance of one of the shops since the height of elevation was kinda awkward as it was too low to be notice, not really sure why that was designed that way maybe to keep rain water out ?
Had dinner at ClawDaddy where we had this lobster/shrimp seafood feast, wasn’t that bad but I didn’t find it great either. Frankly for seafood I’d rather go to seaside in macapagal, probably cheaper too. I did however like their “crab claw cracker” which was basically two stones (one flat and the other round) which you use to break the crab claws (or at least I hope that’s what they’re for and not something for use in the restroom).
All in all wasn’t that impressed with Bonifacio High Street, unless I had a dog I wanted to walk I really wouldn’t go back there. I don’t really shop at high end boutiques, I love eating out but none of the restaurants there interested me. I think I’ll stick with Mall Of Asia and Greenbelt 4…
