After two or three months of relative dearth of good tv shows (good thing I was able to score season 2 of Friday Night Lights) comes the deluge. Yes, many of our favorite tv shows are here.
Dexter’s back to his killing ways with Jimmy Smits as his likely protagonist. Coincidentally enough the one role I really remember Jimmy Smits from is as a lawyer in L.A. Law which in Dexter he also plays one though he’s on the government side this time.
Prisonbreak has also started, already with four episodes but haven’t had the time to watch it yet. Wonder how long they can string out the “get-out-of-prison” routine.
On the sci-fi front we’ve got Heroes which is starting tomorrow with the next chapter called “Villains”. Hopefully the next chapter won’t suck like the previous one. Also, watched two episodes of Fringe which is an X Files derivative. Though the plots are nothing new it has held my attention so far, the repartee between Bishop Jr and Sr has been quite amusing, the over all arc though (The Pattern) seems kinda weak.
Lastly when you talk of TV Shows you can’t leave out the ones from HBO, the gang from Entourage’s back with Vince Chase having problems getting decent work after his last Indie movie tanked.
I’ve also started watching True Blood. Basically the show’s premise is that vampires have come out in the open, humans aren’t supposed to fear them since the vampires eat synthetic blood. It stars Anna Paquin who plays a telepath but is unable to read the mind of a particular vampire. So far it has been uneven, there are parts that drag and then there are parts which grip your attention. It kinda reminds of Carnivale in terms of atmosphere and pacing.
